Chris Brown sentenced in Rihanna assault case

Here is another celebrity icon who is sentenced for maltreating a lover. Taken from Yahoo News.

AP, Aug 25, 2009 7:02 pm PDT

A judge on Tuesday sentenced Chris Brown to five years' probation and six months' community labor for the beating of Rihanna and ordered the R&B singer to stay away from his former girlfriend for the next five years.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told Brown that he could be sent to state prison if he violated any terms of his sentence, including an order to stay 100 yards away from Rihanna unless they're attending music industry events.

A probation report prepared for Tuesday's sentencing describes two previous violent incidents. It said the first happened about three months before the February beating while the couple was traveling in Europe; Rihanna slapped Brown during an argument, and he shoved her into a wall. In the second instance, Brown allegedly broke the front and passenger side windows on a Range Rover they were driving while visiting Barbados, Rihanna's home country. Neither attack was reported, the probation report states.

Brown will serve his sentence in his home state — Virginia — and his community labor will be overseen by the police chief in Richmond.

The judge said she wanted to ensure that Brown, 20, performs physical labor instead of community service, such as mentoring young people. He will also undergo a year of domestic violence counseling.

Rihanna did not attend Tuesday's sentencing.

At one point, Brown, who was accompanied by his mother, agreed to the terms of the sentence before Schnegg had finished going through them all.

The hearing had been planned for Thursday afternoon, but Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, asked to move up the singer's sentencing to Tuesday. A previous attempt to sentence Brown was postponed when Schnegg said she hadn't received adequate assurances that Brown would perform physical labor if allowed to serve probation in Virginia.

The judge said she was satisfied with a letter presented by Geragos that Richmond Police Chief Bryan T. Norwood will directly oversee Brown's labor program.

After Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault in June, Schnegg ordered the pair to stay away from each other and to not contact one another. Her order Tuesday essentially extended that until Brown completes his sentence.

Donald Etra, Rihanna's attorney, has said he didn't think the strict rules were necessary, but that he and Rihanna favored a less-stringent ruling that simply ordered Brown not to annoy, harass or molest the 21-year-old pop singer. He said after Tuesday's hearing that Rihanna did not object to the stay-away order, which allows the former couple to be within 10 yards of each other if they are attending music industry events.

Schnegg said she was aware of reports that Brown had been spotted on several occasions in the same places as Rihanna.

"I am not amused with the chatter that has been on the airwaves and any violation of your probation in this case comes with the potential for state prison," Schnegg told Brown.

A felony charge of making criminal threats was dropped during Tuesday's sentencing.

"We feel that the sentence for Mr. Brown is an equitable one," said Sandi Gibbons, a district attorney's spokeswoman. "He has his future in his hands. He has control of his fate."

Gibbons said Brown's charge could eventually be reduced to a misdemeanor if he completes his sentence.

Brown was arrested Feb. 8, hours after he was accused of beating Rihanna.

The attack occurred in Los Angeles' Hancock Park neighborhood as Brown drove a rented sports car. A Los Angeles police detective described a brutal attack in a search warrant affidavit filed in the case, stating Brown hit, choked and bit Rihanna and tried at one point to push her from the car.

Brown's career suffered after his arrest, with sponsors dropping him and radio stations refusing to play his music. Both he and Rihanna had to cancel several high-profile appearances, including planned performances at the Grammy Awards the day of the attack.

In a probation report released after the sentencing, Brown is quoted as saying he was "depressed" since the attack and that he "'does not want to carry on that cycle.'"

The report included letters of support for Brown from RCA/Jive Label Group Chairman Barry Weiss as well as an entertainment lawyer and a pastor.

Micheal Jackson's Death

Who among us do not recognize the very famous singer and dancer? Well he is not really my favorite but I have his songs as my favorite. Not just a favorite but one of my all time favorite.

Before I will say the title of my favorite song, I would like to tell you also that I am not very much emotional on his death. In fact I was not shocked when the news came that he was dead. However, yes! I do admire him but he is not the best for me, neither I do not see him as someone to be "idolized". The simple fact is that I just like his high pitched voice especially when he was still young.

Now, the title of the song I liked very much in which he was the original singer, maybe he wrote that is the..... DRUM BEATS....
1. One Day in Your Life and BETTER VERSION
2. Ben (go look for it in youtube)

I give emphases on these two songs because even before when I was young, I still do not even know who sang these songs, I already liked them. The melody and its rhythm is truly appealing to me ears and this I really love these songs. There are also other songs I liked from him but these two are the best for me.This only proves my melancholy.

Still I would give tribute to his very rare talent!

Zorro

Richard Gutierrez once again the leading star of GMA's newest teledrama. Premiered last Monday, March 23, 2009. Though I was not able to watch that night, I think it was great. I settings is in Spanish period and including the language where they mix it with Spanish and tagalog. They hire a teacher, a real Spanish speaking teacher to make it more realistic. I still don't know its plot and story and there might be similarities to the original story of Zorro.

It was good to hear the GMA actually bought the title Zorro since it is of copyright. I could say that GMA or the Zorro staff had spent much money and efforts making this TV series a successful one. The dresses are all unique since they created it themselves and did not rent for it. The horses used are of top class and many more. Watch it and you will enjoy. It will start right after 24 Oras and that is about 8 in the evening from Mondays to Wednesdays.

Manny Pacquiao vs Solar Sports

I was shock to hear Manny Pacquiao's announcement in ABS CBN that he would like to air his fight with Ricky Hatton from Solar Sports. We all have knew that Manny Pacquiao was in ABS CBN at first but since when he received a worldwide recognition in the field of boxing, Solar Sports (one of the biggest television company that features sports) had become his way to get more fame to the world. Solar Sport Entertainment is serious of filing a case against him for breaking his 4 year contract with them. The contract between the two will supposedly end on May 6, 2011 for airing his fights. It was clear the Manny Pacquiao broke this contract. Solar Sports will also file a case against ABS CBN. This is a very sensitive issue with him. I know this involve a lot of money in either parties including third party and so on. It is just evident that Manny Pacqiuao now has been blinded by wealth and power. I think he accepted ABS CBN's offer that if he will air his fight to ABS CBN, they will promise to help him run for a public government position. He accepted that for money, fame and power. Manny has become more materialistic now and it is a minus points for me.

Besides the fact that he has two active show appearances in GMA7, he still accepted that, and that is, well you must admit, that this is all ABS CBN's way to pull Manny to their network, and get blinded by the network's offer. Clever! On the other hand, there is a contract also between GMA7 and Manny Pacqiuao effective since he is appearing in two of GMA7's shows, Totoy Bato and Pinoy Records.

However, Manny Pacquiao after knowing his faults decided again to pull out his decision and go back to Solar Sports and fulfill their contract. I hope Manny will not get deceived again by clever people. I think now the case is over.

Francis Magalona

One of my favorite singer in the 90s. I remember the days on my grade school days where we dance the song of Mr Francis M.'s "Mga Kababayan Ko" with a few lines of its lyrics: "Mga Kababayan ko, dapat lang malaman mo, bilib ako sa kulay ko ako ay Pilipino, mayrung itim at may puti, meron namang kayumangi, isipin mo na kaya mong abutin ang yun minimithi.... " This is my favorite song that he ever sang on those younger days I have. I a can have nostalgic feeling when I hear the song.

I was watching Eat Bulaga on Friday noon, March 6 unaware that Francis M. passed away. I did not even notice any of Eat Bulaga's hosts showing grief and sadness for the loss of their co host.

Details:
Excerpt from wikipedia.com

Starting out as a breakdancer in the early 1980s, he followed in his parents' footsteps and ventured out into acting, appearing in several Filipino movies; he branched out to emceeing and released the groundbreaking album Yo! in 1990 garnering the nationalistic hit Mga Kababayan (My Countrymen), making Yo! the first commercially released Pinoy rap album in the Philippines. While rapping politically conscious and thought-provoking rhymes in both English and Tagalog, the album was a big success and instantly helped catapult Filipino hip hop from underground to mainstream status, also marking the birth of Makabayang or Nationalistic rap in Filipino hip hop.

In 1992, Francis Magalona released Rap Is FrancisM (1992), which was highly regarded as one of the greatest Pinoy Rap albums. With tracks addressing the various cultural and social problems that plagued his country such as drug addiction in "Mga Praning" (Paranoids), political instability in "Halalan" (Elections) as well as the detrimental effects of a colonial mentality in "Tayo'y Mga Pinoy" (We Are Filipinos), the record's complexity and conscious message quickly earned it its classic status and became the standard by which future albums of the genre were to be compared.

Health

Magalona, 43, was diagnosed on August 8, 2008, with leukemia at the Medical City Hospital, Pasig. He appealed for privacy.

I don’t want a media circus. I want privacy with my family. What I’d rather talk about is how we can solicit blood donations to replace the supply that I have consumed in the hospital. It was very gradual, hindi siya biglaang lumabas (it did not come out so suddenly). We don’t want to use the word ‘curable,’ but the doctors say it’s treatable.
—Pia Arroyo-Magalona, Francis’ wife

After his treatment and discharge, he made his return on Eat Bulaga together with Ely Buendia, who was also recently discharged.

Death

On March 6, 2009, it was reported that Francis Magalona succumbed to acute myelogenous leukemia at 12:00 noon that day, a few days after his fourth chemotherapy session and a few days before his supposed stem cell transplant. The announcement was first made on Eat Bulaga!, a variety show of which he had been a host prior to his health problems.

Golfreisen - Golf Holidays

Many of our local celebrities here do play golf. I know most of you can name some. Most of them are famous and rich like business men and politicians and hey do not forget celebrities. We do not have a team here in the Philippines that represent our country to play globally but we also have good golf players. Unfortunately, I can not name one. Besides, I do not know how to play golf as well. Though we have plenty of golf ranges in the country or even in our local cities, I still have not managed to learn it since learning golf is so expensive.

The internet provides us with different ways to learn on how to play golf and include there suggestions for good golf ranges and suggestions for golf clubs and balls for perfect playing condition. Include there a bunch of techniques and styles for perfect swing. I knew some websites that focuses solely on the game, golf. Golfreisen is a German word which means golf holidays. The website I am talking about is in German language, but we can always translate it to any language we want. Internet can do that for us. Now, these websites namely Golfreisen , Golf Reisen , and Golfurlaub are websites that talks about golf. Anything related to golf is in them from selling to suggestions. They have golf shop, golf news and golf vacations. They also teach golf and everything, like I said; they tackle things solely about golf. So visit their websites now.

The website they have is in German language, which most of us cannot understand. I can help you with that. Visit the site of google translate. Visit this http://translate.google.com/translate_t# or simply http://translate.google.com. Then copy the website’s url and paste it in the text field of google translate website. Make sure to select German to English to have a correct result. Or you can just put in “detect language” then hit “Translate” Then you are done. Happy Golfreisen!

Wow Mali

The revival of Wow Mali, finally aired this Sunday evening, February 22, 2009 with familiar setup. As usual hosted by Mr Joey de Leon, it was funnier than ever. Practical joke, actual gag show along the streets with random people as victims.

Wow Mali has become the Original Philippine practical gag show aired over ABC (Associated Broadcasting Company) Now TV5. It has been imitated several times by different directors and television channel. "Victim" by ABS CBN and even GMA's Yari Ka by Micheal V. took the idea from this show and a lot more. I see this as a potential rival/counterpart of Yari Ka!, since they have almost the same set up. Though they do not have the same timeslot, (with Wow Mali and Bitoy's Funniest Viedeo, where Yari Ka is shown) I still can see rivalry. Jeoy de Leon and Micheal V are good friends, infact they are both in our favorite noon time show Eat Bulaga. IDK... what do you think?

Bubble Gang

Bubble Gang is my favorite gag show. I have been watching this ever since I was young. Though I can no longer recall the past gags made by them in the past, I could still recall some of the gags which tickles me some times.

When I was still in grade 5(1995), I enjoyed watching Tropang Trumpo in ABC 5. I could not forget the Smokey Manaloto (one of Tropang Trumpo's cast) singing and dancing "Caronia" immitating the edvertisement of Coronia, a nail polish. I have fun watching them. I was young then and on that same year about October, Bubble Gang was aired to counterpart Tropang Trumpo. They almost have the same programs. The main casts who are pioneer of the show are Ogie Alcasid, Micheal V, Antonio AquitaƱa and Wendell Ramos. Diego and Myka came in later and the rest came in a few years ago.

Exerpts from Wikipedia.com
Bubble Gang first aired on GMA Network on October 1995 as a counterpart to ABC's gag show Tropang Trumpo. GMA hired two talents from ace talent manager, Douglas Quijano Wendell Ramos and Antonio Aquitania. During its first year, it was shown around 7:00 in the evening and carried a slogan "Bubble Gang: Just chew it!"

When I was a kid, I love to watch Sesame Street where they also teach how to read and how to count. It was a good venue for kids to learn basic things as part of the things they need to know as a learning student. I remember there that they teach counting with fun by way of singing while counting numbers. Now this newer TV show by GMA, is also a newer way to teach children by way of art. They are taught how to do arts and might trigger artistic talent. Art Angel for me should be promoted and I am sure that many children will love to watch this show. Even me having this age enjoy the show as well. Thanks for reading. Comments please..

Lalola

Lalola is in its last week. In fact today is the second to the last episode and tomorrow will be the last one. I am getting excited on what will about to happen in the next episode. Although I have already figured out what will happen next, I am still waiting to see its next scenes.

The latter episodes of Lalola is quite predictable now. Here is my intuition on what will happen next. Miss S, the mother of Lola/Lalo, as seen in the "Abangan Bukas" went to the funeral of Don Aguirre but she found out that Don Aguirre is still alive. Lola became the hostage of Gaston after knowing that it was Gaston who is the mastermind of killing Don Aguirre. Miss S. told Don Aguirre that Lola is her son and eventually told her that Lola is Lalo, etc... you all know that. But in the next episode tonight and tomorrow, Lola will decide not to become Lalo and marry Facundo. She will also be accepted as by her grandfather Don Aguirre as his grandchild Lalo or Lola. Lola will inherit the riches of her grandfather Don Aguirre and will also become the owner of Distelleria Lobregat and also La Premera. Lola will become so rich will Facundo as her husband. She will live a happy life being Lola. Julia will become a good sister of Lola. Gaston will gnash his teeth in the prison cell. Gricelda will also be in prison. Mattias and Oreng will get married. Gary will become a loser when it comes to love. Who else I'm forgetting.?

Watch out tonight and tomorrow night for the grand finale of Lalola. Up coming is the original version of Lalola which I think is a Mexican origin. Thank you for reading. Comments please.

Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang

Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang

Premiered today, this new teledrama directed by Joyce Bernal is quite an interesting drama. This is not only a drama but also action and suspense including underworld, crime and thriller. A good combination by its creator Carlo J Caparas and the director herself would lead this show at the top. I don't really understand what underworld really means but me while watching its few first minutes found it a little comedy though I am not that sure. This story is about a man named Homer, a psychologist with a boring life, and his patient Proserfina - a man-hater and a serial killer who murdered those she had had a relationship with. The two will eventually develop feelings for one another. But will Prosefina's new found love heal her hatred for men?

With a total of 80 episodes, this show I think will have a good rating since the hottest love team today, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera is making a quite good feed backs from their avid fans. The love story between the two will eventually end up in a real relationship since the two celebrities are showing good signs of mutual relationships based on what we see in the celebrity news on TV.

Make sure you watch your favorite Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang Premiered today February 2, 2009 right after Gagambino.

Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade 5

Do you think you are smarter than a 5th grader? This show is for you. This show hosted by one of my "liked" singer and host Mr Janno Gibbs challenges contestants to outwit 5th grader by answering questions with grade 5 or less level.

Kakasa ka ba sa Grade 5 means, "Are you tough enough for grade 5" is a Philippine version for from an international game show created by Mark Burnett International, the producer of Survivor as an original version from United States.

Rules and general themes courtesy of wikipedia.com

Rules are roughly the same as the original US version, down the composition of the classroom (although comparatively smaller) and the theme song. The Philippine version also has the same three "cheats" to help the contestant. There are noted differences however.

The ten questions in each game are categorized into several general subjects based on Philippine primary school curriculum which is also approved by the Department of Education (which also checks the questions for the show). The subjects for the 1st season are:

* English
* Science
* Mathematics
* Filipino
* Sibika at Kultura (Civics and Culture) for Grades 1 to 3 and HEKASI or Heograpiya, Kasaysayan at Sibika (Geography, History, and Civics) for Grades 4 and 5
* Edukasyong Pangtahanan (Home Economics)
* M.A.P.E. (Music, Arts and Physical Education)

The subjects for the 2nd season are:

* English
* Science
* Mathematics
* Filipino
* Sibika at Kultura (Civics and Culture) for Grades 1 to 3 and HEKASI or Heograpiya, Kasaysayan at Sibika (Geography, History, and Civics) for Grades 4 and 5
* Edukasyong Pangtahanan (Home Economics)
* Musika, Sining at Edukasyong Pangkatawan (Music, Arts and P.E.)
* Spelling

Generally, each category is written as "Grade number and subject". Though the show itself is mostly in Filipino, questions are generally in English, except Filipino, Civics, and Home Economics questions which are in Filipino, as these three subjects are all taught in Filipino in most schools in the Philippines. (See Education in the Philippines for further information.)

The Philippine version also uses a slightly similar money board (see table below) to the one used in the US version, except there is no P2,000 level, but instead a P75,000.
Question Values in this version

Another notable difference is when the answer to a question is about to be revealed, Janno does not say this orally to the contestant as his American counterpart Jeff Foxworthy does. Instead, the answer is shown on the "blackboard" facing the contestant and the current classmate. In case the contestant chooses to copy the classmate's response, the answer is revealed first before the classmate's response is shown.

Early teasers for the show present ten classmates, all Grade 5 students. They are "Chey," "Jun," "Shari," "Nikki," "Joshua," "Marianne," "AJ," "Elise," "Kim," and "Camille," with their real names shown in the credits. It can be presumed that half of them appear in one episode at a time, since there are only five desks in the classroom. This first batch has "graduated" and the a new batch has been introduced for the second season. They are "David", "Cyb", "Matt", "Bea", "Kaye", "Pauline", "Louis", "Ram", "Brian" and "Kassel".[1]

Furthermore, when the contestant decides to "drop out" (stop and take the money) or "flunks out" (answers incorrectly), the contestant must profess to the camera, "Hindi ako kakasa sa Grade 5." ("I am not tough enough for Grade 5.") The contestant is then given a trophy shaped like a squash, as if the "kalabasa award," a figurative prize of shame, is literally bestowed upon the contestant as consolation ("kalabasa" is a Filipino term for squash which is also used as a slang for "the not-so bright").

I Witness - Jan 19, 09

My sister hates snakes, infact she is afraid of snakes. I am wondering if she has Ophidiophobia or most commonly called fear of snakes. While watching TV, my sister was sitting on the diet pad where is emits hot temperature and put on the body and so she cannot stop herself looking at the TV where the show is showing snakes which she dislikes very much. Now, my sister cannot help herself watching those eeewweeeee creatures.

Today's episode on I Witness was about the the Batanes's Pit Viper. An endangered species that can only be found in Batanes Philippines. This was hosted by Kara David, a jolly news journalist. She showed there that despite of the Republic Act passed last 2001 that prohibits anyone to catch animals whether endangered or not and to sell it at any amount. Im Back!

In my case it just got busted and did not work. So now I am asking for apology that my blog has been no posts for several weeks since during the past few weeks - that was about Christmas season, my computer just turned off without me doing anything to it. It can be compared to a person who just fainted under the heat of the sun.

Last week, few days after new year, I sent my computer to a computer shop to have a check up and to repair it as well. It took several days because I have no budget.

Whew I missed a lot!
