Zorro

Richard Gutierrez once again the leading star of GMA's newest teledrama. Premiered last Monday, March 23, 2009. Though I was not able to watch that night, I think it was great. I settings is in Spanish period and including the language where they mix it with Spanish and tagalog. They hire a teacher, a real Spanish speaking teacher to make it more realistic. I still don't know its plot and story and there might be similarities to the original story of Zorro.

It was good to hear the GMA actually bought the title Zorro since it is of copyright. I could say that GMA or the Zorro staff had spent much money and efforts making this TV series a successful one. The dresses are all unique since they created it themselves and did not rent for it. The horses used are of top class and many more. Watch it and you will enjoy. It will start right after 24 Oras and that is about 8 in the evening from Mondays to Wednesdays.

Manny Pacquiao vs Solar Sports

I was shock to hear Manny Pacquiao's announcement in ABS CBN that he would like to air his fight with Ricky Hatton from Solar Sports. We all have knew that Manny Pacquiao was in ABS CBN at first but since when he received a worldwide recognition in the field of boxing, Solar Sports (one of the biggest television company that features sports) had become his way to get more fame to the world. Solar Sport Entertainment is serious of filing a case against him for breaking his 4 year contract with them. The contract between the two will supposedly end on May 6, 2011 for airing his fights. It was clear the Manny Pacquiao broke this contract. Solar Sports will also file a case against ABS CBN. This is a very sensitive issue with him. I know this involve a lot of money in either parties including third party and so on. It is just evident that Manny Pacqiuao now has been blinded by wealth and power. I think he accepted ABS CBN's offer that if he will air his fight to ABS CBN, they will promise to help him run for a public government position. He accepted that for money, fame and power. Manny has become more materialistic now and it is a minus points for me.

Besides the fact that he has two active show appearances in GMA7, he still accepted that, and that is, well you must admit, that this is all ABS CBN's way to pull Manny to their network, and get blinded by the network's offer. Clever! On the other hand, there is a contract also between GMA7 and Manny Pacqiuao effective since he is appearing in two of GMA7's shows, Totoy Bato and Pinoy Records.

However, Manny Pacquiao after knowing his faults decided again to pull out his decision and go back to Solar Sports and fulfill their contract. I hope Manny will not get deceived again by clever people. I think now the case is over.

Francis Magalona

One of my favorite singer in the 90s. I remember the days on my grade school days where we dance the song of Mr Francis M.'s "Mga Kababayan Ko" with a few lines of its lyrics: "Mga Kababayan ko, dapat lang malaman mo, bilib ako sa kulay ko ako ay Pilipino, mayrung itim at may puti, meron namang kayumangi, isipin mo na kaya mong abutin ang yun minimithi.... " This is my favorite song that he ever sang on those younger days I have. I a can have nostalgic feeling when I hear the song.

I was watching Eat Bulaga on Friday noon, March 6 unaware that Francis M. passed away. I did not even notice any of Eat Bulaga's hosts showing grief and sadness for the loss of their co host.

Details:
Excerpt from wikipedia.com

Starting out as a breakdancer in the early 1980s, he followed in his parents' footsteps and ventured out into acting, appearing in several Filipino movies; he branched out to emceeing and released the groundbreaking album Yo! in 1990 garnering the nationalistic hit Mga Kababayan (My Countrymen), making Yo! the first commercially released Pinoy rap album in the Philippines. While rapping politically conscious and thought-provoking rhymes in both English and Tagalog, the album was a big success and instantly helped catapult Filipino hip hop from underground to mainstream status, also marking the birth of Makabayang or Nationalistic rap in Filipino hip hop.

In 1992, Francis Magalona released Rap Is FrancisM (1992), which was highly regarded as one of the greatest Pinoy Rap albums. With tracks addressing the various cultural and social problems that plagued his country such as drug addiction in "Mga Praning" (Paranoids), political instability in "Halalan" (Elections) as well as the detrimental effects of a colonial mentality in "Tayo'y Mga Pinoy" (We Are Filipinos), the record's complexity and conscious message quickly earned it its classic status and became the standard by which future albums of the genre were to be compared.

Health

Magalona, 43, was diagnosed on August 8, 2008, with leukemia at the Medical City Hospital, Pasig. He appealed for privacy.

I don’t want a media circus. I want privacy with my family. What I’d rather talk about is how we can solicit blood donations to replace the supply that I have consumed in the hospital. It was very gradual, hindi siya biglaang lumabas (it did not come out so suddenly). We don’t want to use the word ‘curable,’ but the doctors say it’s treatable.
—Pia Arroyo-Magalona, Francis’ wife

After his treatment and discharge, he made his return on Eat Bulaga together with Ely Buendia, who was also recently discharged.

Death

On March 6, 2009, it was reported that Francis Magalona succumbed to acute myelogenous leukemia at 12:00 noon that day, a few days after his fourth chemotherapy session and a few days before his supposed stem cell transplant. The announcement was first made on Eat Bulaga!, a variety show of which he had been a host prior to his health problems.
